Rollin’ 253 was born in January of 2012 when the previous tenant, Wheelz Skate Arena (2009-2011) closed down. A few of the employees of Wheelz convinced the landlord, Bruce Bodine, that they could make the business work and wanted to save roller skating in Tacoma. Bruce agreed and helped launch the new entity: Rollin’ 253 Skate & Community Center. The rink grew exponentially over the next several years, boosted by the visionary and popular Summer Camp program.
